I mean...

This is, save for a resize to a demure 1024x768, an as is photo from my Nexus 5X, shot today on my morning commute. The auto-HDR function has something to do with it though. ‘t Was an inspiring display of light.

(So, no, not all of The Netherlands has to deal with frozen rain problems.)

51°51’59.4”N, 4°34’57,1”E according to the GPS data in the original shot. Or in other words, a bit southeast from Rotterdam, The Netherlands, on the A15.

Nexus 5X bro fist! The camera is pretty good, though it takes entirely too long for the app to start. That’s actually my biggest complaint about the phone - the camera boot time - and I wish there was an alternative available.

My biggest gripe is that I can’t set the exposure compensation. With my previous phone, the Nexus 4, I could select -2 EV, -1 EV, 0, +1 EV and +2EV. It did require a setting to be activated. But now? Nope. The auto-HDR thing makes it up in part though.

I’m not an expert when it comes to camera settings, but the inability to make any manual changes is a little disappointing. You’re right that auto HDR is pretty good, but I’d like to try tweaking the settings in odd lighting conditions though.

This is one of the better dramatic sunset shots I’ve taken with mine:
